On Friday, September 14th from 9:30am-11:30am, Safe Harbor Cohasset Coalition will hold QPR Training at the Cohasset Rec Center, 100 Sohier Street, 2nd Floor, Cohasset, MA 02025.

QPR, Standing for Question, Persuade, Refer, instruction will be provided by the QPR Institute, a practical and proven suicide prevention education program. For futher information, please visit www.qprinstitute.com.

Training will be provided by Paul Williams, a Substance Abuse Prevention Coordinator, from the Weymouth Health Department.

2018 Walk for Hope & Recovery @ Old South Union Church

This event, open to all, is a way to unify and strengthen our community amid this devastating crisis. The 1.4 mile walk will begin and end at Old South Union Church. Music and resources will be provided after the walk. Please join us as we walk to stomp out the stigma of addiction and celebrate recovery one step at a time.

Mike’s 5K to Crush Substance Abuse @ Cunningham School

Run or walk Mike’s 5K to Crush Substance Abuse! This is the second annual 5K to raise money for substance abuse prevention and treatment programs. We are running in memory of Mike Mulcahy, a proud Miltonian and lover of the outdoors, who passed away in December 2016 after a heroic battle against addiction. Mike wants us to CRUSH substance abuse! FREE t-shirts to the first 200 registrants!

Race day registration starts at 9 AM at the Cunningham School Cafeteria and the 5k begins at 10 AM. We will follow the route of the Milton Road Race through the beautiful town of Milton, MA.

Prescription Take Back Day @ Department of Public Works

Be a Part of the National Effort to Reduce Prescription Drug Abuse. Bring your unused or expired medication for FREE and anonymous safe disposal.
Studies show that youth can begin a lifetime of drug addiction by simply opening the home medicine cabinet. Dropping off your unused medication can lower the risk of substance abuse in the community and protect the environment from potential hazards to the water supply.

What is collected?

  • Prescription Medicines (pills, capsules, inhalers, ointments, and/or patches)
  • Over-the counter medicines (pills, capsules, ointments, vitamins)
  • Pet medications
  • Sample medications
  • Liquid medicines (must be in glass or leak proof container)

What is NOT collected?

    • Aerosols
    • Syringes (sharps/needles) [Free disposal @ Manet Community Health, 110 W. Squantum St. OR ($7-$15 fee charge) @Quincy Health Dept.]

For your privacy you need to:

    • Bring the medicine in its original bottle with your name/numbers blacked out
    • OR, place medicine in a zip-lock clear, disposal bag

Braintree Community Partnership on Substance Abuse Meeting @ Braintree Town Hall

The Braintree Community Partnership on Substance Use is a group of individuals committed to:

  • Minimizing youth access to alcohol, tobacco, nicotine delivery devices, marijuana, opioids and other drugs
  • Supporting individuals and families struggling with addiction.

The Braintree Community Partnership on Substance Use meets from 6:30pm to 8pm in the Cahill Auditorium at Town Hall on or around the fourth Wednesday of the month (with the exception of July and December).
